Safety Case Development and Assessment
A Safety Case demonstrates to authorities that the operator of a major hazard facility has the resources and capability to manage risks associated with the facility. It is required as part of regulatory compliance with Major Hazard Regulations in many jurisdictions. Arriscar can guide MHF operators through the process of developing a safety case and having the document accept by government agencies.
The Safety Case also serves as an important tool in process safety management, providing the MHF operator with an insight into potential major incidents and means of controlling those risks. Arriscar has extensive experience in assisting major hazards facilities developing Safety Cases.
The MHF operator must develop and submit the Safety Case. Arriscar helps the operator by:
- Analysing gaps between the operator’s systems and MHF requirements
- Coordinating and conducting safety assessments
- Identifying safety critical systems
- Developing performance standards
- Demonstrating adequacy through SIL verification, fire safety studies, other technical safety studies and ALARP / SFAIRP workshops.
In addition, Arriscar helps government agencies assess Safety Cases.
