Non-Hydrocarbon Hazard Analysis (NHHA)
The objective of a Non-Hydrocarbon Hazard Analysis (NHHA) is to consider the potential for non-hydrocarbon based incidents based on the nature of offshore operations. The study considers the potential hazards that could impair the installations structure and equipment leading to a hydrocarbon release or affect personnel directly. For incidents that could result in a loss of containment, these are generally carried forward to the Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA).
The primary non hydrocarbon hazards that personnel could be exposed to on an offshore facility fall under:
- A Ship Collision Study;
- A Dropped Object Risk Analysis (DORA)
- A Helicopter / Transport risk assessment and analysis
- A Chemicals Handling assessment and analysis.
- Natural Hazards
- Structural Failures
- Occupational Hazards
It is noted that for some projects the dropped objects analysis (DORA) may be undertaken as a standalone study.
