A release of flammable material can produce a number of hazardous outcomes with the potential for injury, fatality, property or equipment damage, ultimately resulting in financial and reputational loss for an organisation. A Fire and Explosion Analysis (FEA) focus on the consequence of a release where a Fire and Explosion Risk Analysis (FERA) also assesses the likelihood of the events.

The FEA /FERA provides a clear roadmap for understanding the potential hazardous events at a facility analysing the existing safeguards while highlighting the potential for further risk reduction.

The FEA /FERA is a useful tool throughout the entire life-cycle of a facility as it provides a detailed input to the engineering design such as Passive Fire Protection (PFP) requirements, Blast Protection requirements, Fire and Gas Detector locations, Occupied Building assessments etc. and gives operations a clear understanding of the risks associated with the facility.

Arriscar uses the industry accepted PHAST 7.1 consequence modelling package to undertake modelling of the following fire scenarios:

  • Jet Fires
  • Pool Fires
  • Flash Fires
  • Fire Balls
  • Vapour Cloud Explosions (VCE), and
  • Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapour Explosions (BLEVE)

Further to the PHAST 7.1 consequence modelling package Arriscar also has the capacity to undertake specialised Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling for gas dispersion, thermal plume and explosion modelling and build specific models to suite various applications such as dust explosions or explosions in pipes.
