Bow-tie diagrams are effective tools to communicate threats, the potential damage they can cause, and the controls used to manage those risks. Arriscar consultants are very experienced in conducting bow-tie workshops and developing bow-tie diagrams.

Communication

A bow-tie diagram is a very effective form of communication.  People can quickly and easily identify what controls are addressing which risks, making a bow-tie more preferable than using raw data from a risk register to communicate risks, and more importantly, the relationship between those risks and the measures to control them.

Analysis

Using bow-ties, you can also quickly identify which threats or consequences are not adequately addressed by preventative or mitigative controls.
