Arriscar provides HAZOP facilitators in Australia and Asia.

HAZOP is a powerful hazard identification tool well suited to complex processing systems. It provides for structured brainstorming by systematically exploring deviations from the design intent of the system, or its parts.  These deviations are developed by applying the various HAZOP guidewords to the design parameters. The HAZOP team then considers potential causes of the deviation, potential consequences, and safeguards.

A HAZOP is generally seen as much more robust that general brainstorming methods such as What If? Methodology and HAZID.  It does however have some limitations in that if focuses on process causes of design deviations, and may not be as effective at identifying external hazards.
HAZOP results can be used to develop scenarios for Quantitative Risk Assessments, and also scenarios that have instrumented protective functions (IPF) that may be subject to SIL assessments, such as using a LOPA methodology.

Arriscar records HAZOPs using the commercially available software package PHA Pro.
